Mayor of Xi’an at the 1st Preparatory Work Leading Group Meeting for the 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum

The 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum will be held in Xi’an in late September this year. In the afternoon of June 30th, the Xi’an Municipal Government held the 1st Preparatory Work Leading Group Meeting in effort to discuss and arrange preparations for the Forum. The Mayor of Xi’an Dong Jun attended the meeting and delivered a speech, in which he emphasized that relevant units should elaborately organize the preparatory work, be innovative and also pragmatic, and be fully devoted to preparations for the Forum in every aspects to ensure a high-quality and influential international grand meeting.

The Euro-Asia Economic Forum is the only significant event at national level with international influence held in Xi’an and has been successfully held for five times up till now. On the Preparatory Work Leading Group Meeting, the progress of the preparation work for the Forum was briefed and following steps were arranged.

Mayor Dong points out that the progress of the “One Belt and One Road” construction is accelerating, and there has been ever deepening cooperation within the SCO regions, and the China’s economy enters a “new normal”. Considering all these backgrounds, the 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum is an international grand meeting, and it has significant meanings to transfer the spirit of speech given by the General Secretary Xi during his visit to Shaanxi into real actions and results. The Forum is also significant to promote the construction work of the Silk Road Economic Belt new start fully. The Forum also provides a great platform for Xi’an to learn advanced experiences and latest achievements domestically and internationally, and also to demonstrate new accomplishments that Xi’an has made in the economy and society development. Relevant units should be fully aware of how important and special the Forum is this time, and should elaborately organize it, be innovative and also pragmatic, and be fully devoted to preparatory work in order to ensure a high-quality and influential international grand meeting.　　

Mayor Dong emphasizes that all member units of the Preparatory Work Leading Group should be unified in thinking, pay high attention to work and truly realize the how urgent and how much responsibility of their work, thus to prepare everything in order. The key should be grasped, and key points must be highlighted. Key events must be planned and prepared with full devotion. Distinguished guests should be invited and well received. Plus, the service assurance, media promotion and atmosphere creation work should all be done well. The Forum shall conclude successfully as expected. Strong integrated force should be formed for the Forum’s preparations with strengthened leadership, clear-cut assignment of responsibilities and timely supervision. The spirit of the eight-point guidelines issued by the CPC leadership should be transferred into real actions and results. Redundant courtesy events should be reduced. On one hand, effects of the Forum should be guaranteed, and on the other hand, the idea of “holding the Forum economically” should be reflected. Leading Group Office should strengthen communications and discussions among member units, coordinate and solve relevant issues in time, and make sure all preparatory work progress in order and be well completed.
